Visual Spending Analytics

Beautiful charts transform your raw transaction data into actionable insights. See your top spending categories at a glance, every month.

Manage, edit, or delete rules anytime

"I've tried Mint, YNAB, and a dozen others. They're either bloated, expensive, or sunset without warning. ExpenseTracker does exactly what I need — I upload my CSV on the first of the month and it just works."

Why We Built This

A personal finance app built for real people, not investors

"
We built ExpenseTracker because personal finance tools were either overpriced, bloated with features nobody asked for, or quietly monetizing user data. ExpenseTracker is built differently — fast, private, and priced to be fair.
FT
The ExpenseTracker Team
ExpenseTracker is built with one goal: give you financial clarity without the noise.

Why does it cost money?

The Starter plan ($25/mo) covers server hosting and keeps ExpenseTracker running without VC pressure to monetize your data or inflate prices.

The Pro plan ($50/mo) includes Plaid bank connectivity — Plaid charges a per-connection API fee, and the $50 covers that cost plus a small margin. There's no hidden business model. You pay for what you use, and we keep the lights on.

No ads. No data selling. No algorithm deciding what's good for your spending habits. Just a clean tool that does what it says.

FAQ

Common questions about ExpenseTracker

Everything you need to know about expense tracking, pricing, bank connections, and data security.

What happens after my 14-day trial ends?

After your trial, you'll need a Starter or Pro plan to continue importing transactions and using paid features. Your existing data is preserved — you'll always be able to view it. You can upgrade from the app dashboard at any time.

What's the difference between Starter and Pro?

Starter ($25/mo) lets you import transactions via CSV and gives you the full auto-categorization, budgeting, and reporting suite. Pro ($50/mo) adds direct bank connection via Plaid — your transactions sync automatically every day with no CSV uploads required. The Pro price is higher because Plaid charges per-connection API fees.

Which banks are supported for direct connection?

Plaid supports 12,000+ financial institutions including all major Canadian and US banks: TD, RBC, Scotiabank, BMO, CIBC, Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and many more. Credit cards, chequing accounts, and savings accounts are all supported.

Is my financial data safe?

Yes. Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Passwords are hashed — ExpenseTracker never stores them in plain text. Bank credentials are handled entirely by Plaid and never touch our servers. We don't sell your data, ever. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, cancel anytime from your account settings with one click. Your access continues until the end of the billing period you've already paid for. No cancellation fees, no "are you sure" dark patterns.

How is my bank data stored when I connect via Plaid?

When you connect a bank account, ExpenseTracker uses Plaid — the same infrastructure trusted by Venmo, Robinhood, and thousands of other financial apps. Your actual bank credentials (username and password) are entered directly into Plaid's encrypted interface and never sent to ExpenseTracker's servers. Plaid holds a secure access token on its own infrastructure; ExpenseTracker only receives the transaction data Plaid sends back. All data in transit is protected by TLS encryption, and data at rest is encrypted at the storage level. Plaid is SOC 2 Type II certified and compliant with financial data regulations in the US and Canada. ExpenseTracker stores only the transaction records needed to run your dashboard — no account numbers, no login credentials, ever.

What does the referral program give me?

When someone signs up using your referral link and subscribes, you both get 30 free days added to your subscription. There's no limit — refer 5 friends and you've got 5 months free. Your referral link is available in the app dashboard.
